Happy Monday Everyone!

What a beautiful day to start our week! It was wonderful getting outside for recess. Please remember to send your child to school with a jacket. Spring weather is unpredictable, but we will always go out if weather permits.

We have started new units in math and language this week. In math we will be working with numbers and number patterns to 1000. In language we will begin writing a descriptive paragraph. Put all of that good knowledge of adjectives to work!

Our story in reading is My Name is Gabriela and we will be examining characters. Our spelling pattern for the week is long -e spelled with -y.

If your student is writing a story for Celebrate Literacy, those are to be turned in by Friday so that Mrs. Pam has time to laminate and bind them.

The POW WOW is fast approaching. If you have not signed up to work a shift, please email Aimee Fuqua to find out what spots are still open. We need everyone's help for this event to be a success.

Homework:
Monday-Thursday: 15 minutes of reading and 2 complete sentences - due by Friday morning
Study spelling words
Read this week's story and Spelling homework due by Friday morning

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Have a wonderful week!

Hello Parents!

Welcome back from another long weekend! We only have 5 snow days left, so let's hope we don't go over. It is only the beginning of February!

This week we are continuing our unit on time and temperature in math. We will have a test on this unit on Friday. In language, we continue to work with adjectives. Our test on this unit should be next week. I will let you know more about that next week.

In reading we are studying about story structure - setting, characters, beginning, middle, and end. Our story is Mr. Tanen's Tie Trouble. We are also reviewing our infer/predict skills.

Homework:
Tuesday - Friday - 15 minutes of reading each night with 2-3 sentences about the reading, study spelling words, read this week's story.
Wednesday - math study guide due on Friday

Friday - Spelling test, phonics assessment, reading assessment, math test

Last week I sent home a pink sheet explaining our Valentine's day activities. Please help your child decorate a shoe box to hold their Valentines and bring it in on Friday, February 14th. Although there is not an actual party, we will exchange Valentines and have a special snack.

Progress reports will come home on Thursday. Please sign the copy and send it back the next day.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Kane
