Parents,

Well it is finally here.  The last week of second grade☹.  I have a few
fun things planned that I wanted you to know about before Monday
gets here so you can help your almost third grader be prepared.

Monday - 2nd grade picnic - bring a beach towel and lunch (Students can of course buy lunch in the cafeteria)

Tuesday - Movie day, then reading books in the dark.  Please send a flashlight!

Wednesday - Board games

Thursday - small electronics (in empty backpacks for bringing home last minute things)

We will have an ice cream party after lunch on Thursday at 1:00.  Join us if you'd like.  You may check your child out from the classroom after that if you choose.

Thank you for a fantastic year!

Dear Parents,

I can't thank you enough for the kindness you showed me last week.  All of the sweet
notes of encouragement really touched my heart.  You are a big part of the reason
ILE is such a special school!  And a special thank you to all the parents who came
Friday to help with field day.  Mrs. Culp said you guys rocked it and that I won the
room mom lottery this year!  Thank you for helping make field day special for our
class.

This week we will continue reading Stone Fox.  This will be our last spelling test and
our spelling patter is -ou and -ow.  In math we will begin division concepts and
interpreting fractions.

Homework this week will be to read for pleasure and to study spelling words.

Have a wonderful week!

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope all you mothers were treated extra special yesterday and know how much you
are appreciated by your families.

Thank you for all the beautiful flowers today.  Your gardens must be spectacular based
on what was shared with me today.

Friday is Field Day!  If your child bought a field day shirt, please send them in it.  If they
didn't purchase a shirt, please have them wear red if possible.  Please apply sunscreen
to your child before they leave home and make sure they bring a water bottle.

This week we started a new chapter book, Stone Fox.  Our spelling words this week
have the spelling pattern -oo, like in book.  We will continue to improve our writing
in language.  In math we continue to work on measuring with centimeters and
working with fractions.

The only homework this week is to study spelling words and to read for pleasure.                               They do not have to write about what they are reading.

On a personal note, I wanted to let you know that I will not be at school this
Thursday and Friday.  I am very sad that I will miss field day, but it can't be avoided.
My family has recently found out that my mother has stage 4 lung cancer and I have
to take her to an appointment at Sarah Cannon Cancer Center to see if she can get in
a clinical trial.  I wanted you to know this because it would have to be something as
important as this to make me miss spending field day with my class.  Mrs. Burgess will
be my sub on Thursday.  The kids LOVE her!  At this time, I do not know who my
sub will be for Friday.  We are still working on that.  But, I have had some wonderful
mothers volunteer to help with field day.  Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy
the fun and help the kiddos with the games.  It will be a special day!

Have a blessed week!

Hello Parents,

This week we started a chapter book, Freckle Juice.  It is going to be hard to keep them from reading ahead because this is a funny book!  Our spelling words have the -oo, -ou, and -eu spelling pattern.  We will work on our writing during language.  In math we are measuring in centimeters.

Thank you to everyone who sent in paper towel and toilet paper rolls.  We have enough now for our activity.

Next week is the Spring Book Fair.  Be watching for more information on that.  Also, all library books must be returned to the library by Wednesday, May 18th.

Homework:
Homework this week is just reading for pleasure.  Students do not have to write about their reading.
Thursday they should study their spelling words.

Have a wonderful week!
