Hello Parents!

I hope your week is off to a great start!

This week we will be giving the Quarterly Assessments for ELA,
Math, and Writing.  It is very important for your child to be
here and to be on time.  Because of the time it takes to
complete these assessments, we are moving our weekly reading
test to Monday.  Your child will still bring their book home on
Thursday to read the story.  We will still give the spelling
and phonics assessments on Friday.

Thank you to everyone who came out Friday and stood in the rain
to cheer us on during Warrior Walk!  We had a great time.  A little
rain didn't dampen their spirits or their drive to run!  Please turn
in all Warrior Walk packets by this Friday.

This week we are reading Click, Clack, Moo Cows That Type.  Our spelling
words have final blends of nd, ng, nk, ft, xt, and mp.  We are continuing
to learn about nouns.  In math we are learning place value and some
measuring.

Homework:
Monday - Reading and writing sentences
Tuesday - Reading and writing sentences and math game with worksheet -
they only need to return page 51 completed
Wednesday -  Reading and Wed. folders
Thursday - Reading and writing sentences, study for spelling test

If you have not requested a Parent-Teacher conference time, I have just a
few spots open.  Please let me know if you would like a conference.

Have a wonderful week!

Happy Monday Everyone!

This week we are reading the chapter on Animals from our science
book!  Our focus will be on how text features help us understand
what we are reading. Our spelling words all have consonant blends using r, l, and s.
We continue to learn about nouns in language.

In math we continue to work on adding and subtracting with larger
numbers and measuring.

Most of our caterpillars are now in a chrysalis!  We are so excited to
watch their transformation!

Don't forget this Friday is Warrior Walk!  We will be walking from 1:25-1:55.
Our class color is light blue.  We want to wear as much light blue as we
can.  However, hair color is not allowed.  Your student is bringing home a
Warrior Walk form in their Take Home folders.  This needs to be returned
by Wednesday.

If you haven't turned in your request for a parent-teacher conference, please send
those in as soon as possible.

Hello All!

Welcome back from our long weekend!

This week we are reading a short text titled "Moths."  This is not located
in our reading book, but rather a copy of a text from ReadWorks.  Every
student has their own copy that we are highlighting important information
on.

Our spelling pattern this week is long a and long i words.  We will be wrapping
up  our first unit in language with a test over complete sentences, naming parts,
telling parts, statements, questions, commands, exclamations, beginning
sentences with capital letters, and ending with punctuation.

In math we continue to learn strategies for adding and subtracting.

Homework this week:
Tuesday:  Read and write sentences, math
Wednesday:  Wed. folders, read
Thursday:  Read "Moths" and write sentences, study spelling words

Mark your calendars for Warrior Walk - Friday, September 25th!
We hope you can join us!

Have a wonderful week!

Happy Monday Everyone!

This week we are reading a nonfiction story called Jellies and we will be
learning about facts and opinions.  Our spelling words this week will have
the short o, u, and i sounds.  In language we continue to work on writing
sentences.

This week in math we continue to work on addition and subtraction
strategies.

We should finish up our social studies unit on maps and globes.
Ask your child to sing the continents and oceans song for you!

Beginning today, your child will have a behavior chart in their Take Home
folder.  At the end of every day they will color their day based on where
they ended on our class behavior chart.  At the end of the month, I will
collect these, and your child will receive a ticket for every day they
stayed on green (ready to learn).  Everyone who stays on green for the
entire month will get to eat lunch in the classroom and watch cartoons
with me!  Please do not take this out of your child's folder.

When you send lunch money to school, please put it in an baggie or
envelope with your child's name on it.

Homework:

Tuesday - Read and write sentences, math
Wednesday - Wed. folders and read
Thursday - Read Jellies and write sentences, study spelling words, math

Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope you enjoyed the week-end and are ready for a full week of learning!

We are starting this week with our first reading story "Teacher's Pet."
With this story we will examine the story structure - characters, setting,
and plot.  In language we are working on writing complete sentences and
identifying naming and telling parts of sentences.  In spelling we are working
with short -a and -i words patterns.  Your child has their spelling list in the
back pocket of their Take Home folder.  PLEASE leave it in that pocket.
Your child needs to use their list during the week in class.  As long as your
child brings their folder back and forth to school, they will always have
their list at home at night to study.

We are continuing our first unit in math with a focus this week on addition
and subtraction strategies.

In social studies we are exploring maps and globes.

Homework:
Monday - Read and write sentences
Tuesday - Read and write sentences, math
Wednesday - Wed. folders, read
Thursday - Students will bring their reading books home to read from this
week's story and write sentences, math, study spelling words

On Friday we will have our first reading, phonics, and spelling tests.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Have a wonderful week!

Happy Monday Everyone 😊

Well we didn't make it outside today, but they enjoyed playing games in the
classroom!

This week we continue to build our reading stamina by practicing our
independent reading.  We made it to 9 minutes today.  Our goal is to be
able to read independently for 20 minutes.  We can do it!

We are starting homework this week.  Your child will have a green
reading sheet in their Take Home folder.  They will need to read for 15 minutes
three nights this week and then write 3 quality sentences about what they
read.  I don't want them to copy sentences from the book.  Just in their
own words tell me what they read.  They can read from any book they
like.

We will have math homework on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week.

Please turn in all blue forms for t-shirts by Wednesday.

Please let me know if I can help your child in any way.

Have a wonderful week!
