Happy Spring Everyone!

This week we will not have a reading or spelling test.
We will wrap up our unit on adverbs with a test tomorrow
and will begin our focus writing for this quarter which
is narrative writing.  In math we will continue our unit
in geometry.

The only homework I am asking of the students this
week is to read for 15 minutes each night.

I hope everyone enjoys their spring break.  When we come
back we will only have eight weeks of school left!  How did
that happen???

Have a wonderful night,
Mrs. Kane

It was so good to see so many of you on Saturday for the Pow Wow!
Thank you for coming out in support of our wonderful school.  We
couldn't do it without you.

Friday is picture day!  If you would like to order a class picture, you
must preorder and prepay for it.  The form is coming home in your

working on our Market Day preparations after our assessments,
as well as math.

In math we are working on extending patterns.  Later this week we

Hello Parents!

I just wanted to thank everyone who has volunteered to bring
in drinks and baked goods and volunteer your time on Saturday!
The Pow Wow is always a lot of fun for everyone.

I also wanted to bring your attention to some very special auction
items that will be available on Saturday.  First, Ms. Nutter (Riley's Mom)
took a very special picture of our class today that you will not want
to miss!  Also, the second grade teachers host a pool party after
school gets out, June 9th from 6-8 pm.  We provide pizza and
and other goodies.  It is always a good time!

See you soon!

This week we are starting our economics unit called Market Day.  This
will be a fun experience for everyone.  While learning about goods,
services, producers, consumers, bartering, trading, taxes, and budgets
students will have the opportunity to have their own business right here in
class.  They will decide if they are going to provide a good or a service
and whether they want to work alone or with a partner.  You will receive
a letter in your child's folder today that will help explain. Our Market Day
will be on Friday, March 18th!

We are reading from our Social Studies book this week to go along
with our Market Day unit. In language we continue our unit

We thoroughly enjoyed being outside for recess today!  I hope
you were able to enjoy it some as well.  Just as a reminder,
there is no school tomorrow since it is an election day.

This week we are reading Poppleton in Winter and will look at
cause and effect.  Our spelling pattern this week is words with -or
and -ore, and in language we have started our unit on adverbs.

In math, we continue to work on understanding place value
and are using it to help us count money.

Make sure to mark your calendars to attend ILE's Pow Wow
on Saturday, March 12 from 11-3.  It is always a fun time!
You should be receiving an email soon about volunteering
to work our booth on that day.

Welcome Back!

This week is a continuation of last week since we had all those
snow days!  We are continuing with our reading of "Two Famous
Presidents" as well as our spelling words with the long e sound
using -y.  We will have our tests over these on Friday.  Our language
test over adjectives will be next Tuesday.  In math we are learning
place value up to 1000.

This Friday we will have our "Winter Read-in" after we have completed
our tests.  Students may bring a blanket or sleeping bag to snuggle up in
and read some good books!  They can bring some books from home
