Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope everyone enjoyed time with your families during
Thanksgiving.  It is hard to believe we only have three
weeks left for this semester!

lunch, or purchase a sack lunch from the cafeteria.  You indicated your
preference when you filled out your field trip paperwork.  If you are
unsure what you selected, please let me know.  We should have our
field trip t-shirts tomorrow.

Second grade does a social studies unit on holidays around the world.
Your child will pick a country to learn how they celebrate winter holidays.
If their is a country of special interest to you and your family, please talk
to your child about that tonight.  We will pick our countries tomorrow.
I will send home the requirements for the project tomorrow.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Hello Parents!

I hope your week is off to a great start!

This week we will be giving the Quarterly Assessments for ELA,
Math, and Writing.  It is very important for your child to be
here and to be on time.  Because of the time it takes to
complete these assessments, we are moving our weekly reading
test to Monday.  Your child will still bring their book home on
Thursday to read the story.  We will still give the spelling
and phonics assessments on Friday.

Thank you to everyone who came out Friday and stood in the rain
to cheer us on during Warrior Walk!  We had a great time.  A little
rain didn't dampen their spirits or their drive to run!  Please turn
in all Warrior Walk packets by this Friday.

Happy Monday Everyone 😊

Well we didn't make it outside today, but they enjoyed playing games in the
classroom!

This week we continue to build our reading stamina by practicing our
independent reading.  We made it to 9 minutes today.  Our goal is to be
able to read independently for 20 minutes.  We can do it!

We are starting homework this week.  Your child will have a green
reading sheet in their Take Home folder.  They will need to read for 15 minutes
three nights this week and then write 3 quality sentences about what they
read.  I don't want them to copy sentences from the book.  Just in their
own words tell me what they read.  They can read from any book they
like.

We will have math homework on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday this week.

Please turn in all blue forms for t-shirts by Wednesday.

Please let me know if I can help your child in any way.

Have a wonderful week!

Welcome to 2nd grade!

I am so excited about this school year!  We have so many fun and exciting things happening in 2nd grade this year, including a wonderful new math program and we get to learn cursive writing!  It is going to be a great year!

Just a little information to get the year started.  We will have a snack in the mornings around 10:30 since our lunch is not until 12:10.  Please keep these snacks simple and easy as we will only have 5 minutes for snack.  Please do not send messy snacks such as fruit cups, pudding, and nuttella.  My suggestions would be fruit, granola bar, crackers, cheese, pretzels, or something similar.

We have P.E. on Thursdays so please make sure your child wears their athletic shoes on this day.

Many of you were not able to take the parent survey during registration night.  There is a link on the ILE website if you would please take a few minutes to complete this it would be greatly appreciated.

I look forward to a fantastic year.  If you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

your child can handle carrying anything they bring.  My suggestion is that it fit in
their backpacks.

Friday is FIELD DAY!  Please send a water bottle with your child's name on it to
carry with us while we are playing the games.  It is going to be hot and sunny on
Friday.  I would also suggest putting sunscreen on your child BEFORE they come to
school.  We will have a picnic style lunch outside so please send a towel that your
child can sit on during lunch.  I would love to have some parents help with field
day.  If you have never come before, we walk from game to game and the directions
for the game are there for the adults to explain to the children.

home.  Please do not go to any expense for this activity.  Suggested products have been: paper airplanes, drawings, "cutie catchers", writing stories or poems.  Suggested services have been:
