Happy Monday Everyone!

I hope everyone enjoyed time with your families during
Thanksgiving.  It is hard to believe we only have three
weeks left for this semester!

This week we are reading the story Schools Around the World.  The
skill we will focus on is identifying the main idea and the details of
the passage.  Our spelling words have the long a sound using -ai and
-ay.  In language we are learning to write friendly letters and then
we will write a letter to Santa!

In math we are working with graphs and then we will begin our
unit on measurement.

Don't forget our field trip to see Charlotte's Web is Thursday.  We will
have an early lunch in the classroom and will depart the school at
10:45. Because we are eating early, everyone must either bring their
lunch, or purchase a sack lunch from the cafeteria.  You indicated your
preference when you filled out your field trip paperwork.  If you are
unsure what you selected, please let me know.  We should have our
field trip t-shirts tomorrow.

Second grade does a social studies unit on holidays around the world.
Your child will pick a country to learn how they celebrate winter holidays.
If their is a country of special interest to you and your family, please talk
to your child about that tonight.  We will pick our countries tomorrow.
I will send home the requirements for the project tomorrow.

If you have any questions, please let me know.

Have a wonderful week!
