Welcome Back!

I hope everyone had a wonderful fall break! We had a great first day back at school.

First, our class earned 30 WOW's (compliments) during the first nine weeks. As a reward,
We will have pajama day tomorrow. They may bring slippers to wear in the class, but
please wear outdoor shoes for recess.

The Friday before fall break our librarian, Mrs. MacKorell, told our class about the October
Reding Fair. This is a voluntary activity, but if your student chooses to participate, I will
give an extra credit grade in reading. They should have brought the information home with
them before fall break. The deadline for their project to be turned in is Tuesday, October 28th.

This week we are reading Animals Building Homes. We will be looking at how text features
help us understand what we read. In language we will be writing a narrative story from the
point of view of an animal. Our spelling words this week will contain double consonants or
-ck.

In math we will begin Topic 17, numbers and patterns to 1000.

Animal habitats will be our topic in science.

Since it is a short week, we will not have the same homework routine.

Tuesday: Write a letter to a soldier. These letters will be sent to soldiers around
Thanksgiving. They can only be one page, but can be front and back. Nothing should
be glued, taped, or stapled. They letter can be decorated with crayons or markers.
I will give an extra credit grade in language if these are turned in tomorrow.
Wednesday: Wednesday folder and math facts sheet
Thursday: Read Animals Building Homes and study spelling words.

If you have any questions please let me know.
Mrs. Kane
